    WINDSURF BOARD

At WestWind, we have many years of experience with windsurfing. We sell many different types of windsurfboards and here we will briefly outline some of their functionalities and characteristics. If you have never tried the sport before, we can highly recommend one of our windsurfing courses. A course in windsurfing is a great fun water sports experience! A course will also give you an instructive insight into the sport and a realistic insight into which windsurfing equipment makes sense in relation to your level. See our many windsurfing course options under the 'Book Course' menu.

    Freeride windsurf board

Probably the most used type of windsurfboard is the freeride windsurfboard. This board can be used in many different conditions, and is most often described as a good all-round board. This type of board will also be best for the beginner and the more experienced windsurfing enthusiast. The board typically has a wider outline, i.e. shape, compared to, for example, a race or wave board. The board will also be more forgiving without compromising too much on planning ability. One of the most recognized freeride boards is the Tabou Rocket.

    Slalom windsurf board

The slalom board is brilliant for the more experienced sailor who wants lots of speed and quick planning. The board has a fun wide and short shape that gives a high top speed and increased manoeuvrability. The slalom board usually does not have that much volume. Less buoyancy makes the board difficult to handle at low speed, but allows you to push the board at high speed. All in all, a super fast board for the experienced sailor.

    Wave windsurf board

If you are into windsurfing in the blue wave, you will have to look for a wave windsurf board. Wave windsurf boards are designed to perform maximally in the waves of the sea. The board is usually narrower and shorter compared to a freeride board. The wave board also has a more pronounced rocker, i.e. bow-shaped shape, compared to the other types of boards. Typically, boards must be surfed with a thruster fin setup. The board is designed to be able to withstand hard blows from both waves and hard impacts from jumps and other manoeuvres.

    Foil windsurf board

Last but not least, the foil windsurf board is a windsurf board designed specifically for wind foiling. Wind foiling gives the feeling of floating weightlessly over the water. Wind foiling is also an extremely fast surf sport. Before you buy a windfoil board, you should be able to comfortably surf and stand in your foot straps. Most of the time, you don't actually need to invest in a specific foil windsurf board to be able to wind foil. This is because the different foils can easily be mounted on other types of windsurfboards.
