Maintaining your Gath helmet

Cleaning: Rinse the helmet with fresh water after every use, especially after using it in salt water. If necessary, wash it with mild soap and lukewarm water, and avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, and abrasive brushes, as they can damage the shell and foam.

Drying: Let the helmet air-dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated place. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators or hair dryers, as heat can damage the foam and plastic.

Storage: Store the helmet in the included storage bag in a cool, dry place. Make sure it is completely dry before putting it away, and avoid placing heavy items on top of it.

Inspection: Regularly check the shell, straps, buckles, and fittings for wear, cracks, or loose parts. Also inspect the helmet after any heavy impacts - replace it if there is visible damage to ensure optimal protection.

What sports is the Gath Standard EVA Helmet suitable for?

The helmet is designed for watersports such as surfing, kiting, windsurfing, wingfoiling, kayaking, and waterskiing. It provides lightweight protection with minimal air and water resistance.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure your head circumference at the middle of your forehead, just above your ears, and choose from sizes XS–XL. The included fitting strips can be adjusted to shape the helmet to your head.

How much does the helmet weigh?

Depending on the size, the helmet weighs 440–490 grams, so it feels very light in both wet and dry conditions.

Is the helmet certified?

Yes, the Gath EVA helmet is certified as a surf helmet under CRITT Protocol CS-003 05/2019.
