Description

ION Slash Core Helmet is a water helmet for anyone who wants safety and comfort on the water - from kitesurfing and wing foiling to wakeboarding and windsurfing. The helmet was developed in collaboration with WIP and is built around ION’s 360°-Fit system, which provides a snug and comfortable fit from the very first moment. Detailed adjustment means the helmet stays securely on your head, whether you’re sailing calmly or going fast.

The heart of Slash Core is the 360°-Fit system: While ordinary helmets can typically only be adjusted at the back, this headband runs all the way around your head from back to front. This means your entire head circumference is taken into account, instead of just pressing your forehead against the helmet. The result is increased comfort, less movement on your head, and even pressure distribution. The inner shell is made of EPP material with double shock absorption, which continues to provide reliable protection after many impacts.

    Caring for your ION Slash Core Helmet

    • After use in water: Rinse the helmet in cold, fresh water to remove salt, chlorine, and dirt. Let it air-dry at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
    • Drying: Never dry the helmet on a radiator, in a tumble dryer, or with a heat source, as heat can damage the material and inner shell. Leave it to air-dry with the headband facing outward.
    • Cleaning: Clean the inside and headband with mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, and fabric softeners, as they can break down the material.
    • Storage: Store the helmet in a dry, cool, dark place when not in use. Do not leave it in a hot car or in direct sunlight for extended periods.
    • After a fall or impact: Always check the helmet for visible damage such as cracks, dents, or loose parts. A helmet that has taken a hard hit should be replaced, as its protective ability may be reduced, even if it looks intact.
    • General: Avoid subjecting the helmet to unnecessary stress, and do not store it under heavy objects that could deform the shell.

    Which watersports is the ION Slash Core Helmet suitable for?

    The helmet is designed for watersports such as kitesurfing, wing foiling, wakeboarding, windsurfing and SUP. It is certified to CE EN 1385 and CE EN 1077 B.

    What is the 360° Fit system?

    It’s ION’s adjustment system, where the headband goes all the way around your head instead of just around the back. This provides a snug fit, less movement and even pressure distribution.

    What sizes is the helmet available in?

    The helmet comes in three size ranges: XS (51–54 cm), S/M (53–56 cm) and M/L (55–61 cm). The adjustable headband expands the fit range.

    What material is used in the inner shell?

    The inner shell is made of EPP with double impact absorption, which retains its shock-absorbing function even after many impacts.

    Can I use ear pads with the helmet?

    Yes, you can add ION Clip-in Ear Pads to the helmet. They’re sold separately.

    How do I choose the right size?

    Measure the circumference of your head and compare it with the size chart. If you’re between sizes, the adjustable headband lets you fine-tune the fit.

    What’s the best way to care for the helmet?

    Should I replace the helmet after a fall?
