Maintaining your carbon mast

Rinse the mast with fresh water after use in salt water, and dry it with a soft cloth before putting it away. Avoid dragging the mast over sand, stones or asphalt - even small scratches in the carbon surface can weaken the mast over time.

Storage

Store the mast in a dry, light and cool place - preferably lying down or supported in a mast bag. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and heat from, for example, a car boot, as this can degrade the resin. Never place luggage or heavy objects on top of the mast during transport.

Regular inspection

Regularly check the mast for scratches, dents or cracks, especially after heavy sailing or collisions. If you clean the two mast halves, make sure the joint is dry and clean before assembling them. It's a good idea to store the mast in its bag between sessions to protect it from impacts and UV light.

What is the difference between the RDM and SDM versions of the Duotone Platinum Series SLS?

RDM (Reduced Diameter Mast) has a narrower diameter and is primarily suited to wave and freestyle sails, while SDM (Standard Diameter Mast) provides more direct stiffness for freerace and slalom sails. Both versions are 100% carbon and are available in several lengths.

All Duotone masts are developed with Medium Constant Curve (61-63% curve below, 75-77% above), ensuring maximum compatibility with all Duotone sails. This provides a predictable and efficient rig without bend-curve compromises.
