The brand new SUPER_HERO SLS now replaces the standard SUPER_HERO. With a drastic weight cut of 450 grams, it’s a huge upgrade, as it now shares the same feather-light weight as the SUPER_HERO D/LAB.

But that’s not all, because all our wave sails follow the same three design rules that set them apart from all other sails out there:

1_ Wind range

This is our top priority. It shows how much wind you can handle with just one sail size. In the end, this means how many sails you need in your gear and how often you have to swap your sail because the wind changes.

The key to widening the wind range is to stop the sail from stretching or ballooning. Lab and on-water tests show that the total stretch mainly depends on the film thickness. Sure, you can partly make up for an ultra-thin film by packing in more thread or yarn. But the gaps between the threads will always stretch. That’s why we use a fairly “thick” film for the big center panel above the window. No one else does this, because using an ultra-thin center panel is the easiest way to save weight, but it comes with a cost.

2_ Maximum toughness and lifespan

Top-notch puncture resistance against rocks and reefs is especially important when you get tumbled in the waves. Also, you want your sail to last more than just one season, even in hot spots.

Lab and on-water tests prove that puncture and sun resistance depend ONLY on the film’s thickness. That’s why we’re the only brand that can offer a 5-YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY on our wave sails.

3_ Feather-light sailing weight

Low weight is the only thing that helps everyone improve and sail longer, whether you’re a total beginner or a World Cup rider. But you have to tell apart the weight on the scale and the weight you feel on the water in your hands. When a sail stretches or balloons, it starts to feel heavier in your hands. That’s why we care only about the so-called sailing weight. Yes, our wave sails are among the lightest on the scale, but it’s only on the water that they truly stand out.

SHAPE FOLLOWS BUILD

Instead of just using the same 3D shape, luff curve, and twist pattern for all sails in every build, each sail is fully redesigned and rebuilt from scratch. This is the only way we can unlock the full power of stretch-free CARBON XPly, for example. This makes all SLS and especially D/LAB sails real game changers.
