How to keep your batten in good condition season after season:

• Rinsing: Rinse the batten with fresh water after using it in salt water, and wipe it dry with a soft cloth. This removes salt, sand, and dirt that can wear down the material.
• Drying: Let the batten air-dry completely before putting the sail away. Avoid intense heat from radiators or a hot car, for example, as it can affect the material.
• Storage: Store the batten flat or slightly curved in the sail’s batten pocket when the sail is not in use. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of it, as this can cause permanent bends.
• Sunlight and heat: Always store it in a dry, dark, cool place - prolonged direct sunlight gradually breaks down the material in battens and sails.
• Inspection: Check battens regularly for cracks, sharp edges, or permanent bends, and replace them if they are damaged - a defective batten affects the sail’s shape and performance.

What size batten should I choose?
