Description

ION Mission Helmet is a water helmet that sets new standards for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and wingsurfing. It was developed in collaboration with WIP and is used by high-performance sailing teams such as Oracle Team - that says a lot about the level of protection you get for your head.

The core of the helmet is a lightweight in-mold construction, where the outer shell is laminated directly onto specially developed EPS foam. This provides excellent shock absorption for several types of impact - and a helmet so light you’ll almost forget you’re wearing it. Inside, soft, comfortable materials ensure the helmet fits well all day. Unlike many other water helmets, the Mission not only meets the requirements for water sports, but also the safety requirements for winter sports - a helmet with double credentials.

  • Care & Maintenance

    Care for your ION Mission Helmet

    Rinse the helmet with fresh water after every session in salt water, then let it air-dry - preferably upside down or on a towel so water can drain out of the ear pads and openings.

    Cleaning: Wipe the shell with a soft cloth and lukewarm water with a little mild soap. The ear pads and inner lining can be removed and rinsed with fresh water. Never use harsh cleaners, solvents, or a pressure washer - they can damage the shell and EPS foam.

    Drying: Let the helmet dry at room temperature or in the shade. Never leave it in direct sunlight for extended periods, and don't leave it on a hot radiator or in a closed-up car - heat can impair the material's protective properties.

    Storage: Store the helmet in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Don't place heavy items on top of it or hang it somewhere the shell could be strained.

    Important: A helmet is designed to absorb one hard impact. Check it regularly for cracks, pressure marks, or loose parts, and replace it after a hard fall - even if there is no visible damage.

    Yes. The helmet is certified to both CE EN 1385 for watersports and CE EN 1077 B for winter sports, so it’s suitable for year-round use.

    Is the helmet comfortable to wear for longer periods?

    Yes. The in-mold construction makes the helmet extremely lightweight, while the soft interior materials and adjustable fitting system ensure a comfortable fit throughout your session.

    How do I fasten the helmet with wet or cold hands?

    The helmet has a Fidlock magnetic buckle that clicks together automatically using magnets and can be opened with one hand, even when your fingers are cold or wet.

    Can the ear pads be removed?

    Yes, the ear pads are removable, so you can adjust the helmet to the weather and your preferences.

    How well does the helmet fit?

    The ergonomic fitting system is size-adjustable and wraps around your head for a stable, comfortable fit, even during hard landings. Size 55-60/M-L fits head measurements from approx. 55 to 61 cm.
