Rinse the extension in fresh water after every session - especially after using it in salt water - and let it dry completely before putting it away. The wide X-SPACE holes help flush sand out of the system, but check the rollers, cleat and rope for sand and dirt, and rinse them off before storing your gear. Avoid strong cleaning products and spraying the cleat directly with a pressure washer; a soft brush and fresh water are enough.
